A Glimpse of my day

Hey there! I thought you might like a glimpse of my day today.

I would have loved the photos too be far more arty but to be honest ive left 3 days worth of pre party house preparation to be squeezed into one day, partly due to work commitments, partly due to a nasty/cough/cold combo im rocking at the moment.

Anyways, Poppy's cake is in the oven baking in stages as its a ten inch one, in between checking on it im madly clearing left over tools away(from the bathroom re-fit)hoovering, tidying, chucking out, fiddling, admiring-and now procrastinating! Argh!

Two things making all the effort that little bit more bareable-my CK apron and my uggs!

Mummy's baking, the boys are looking on with that 'when the hell are you taking us out?' look in their eyes, sorry boys, no time, you'll have to amuse yourselves today!

Ive lit a lovely candle i bought from TK Maxx aaagges ago but it smells of sweet peppermint and its still going strong. I was however a little sad to light it then peer back in to notice this little fella must have admired it too-a little too closely-how sad, but beautiful?

Like a moth to a flame...sums up me and cath kidston it think!

Here is another shot of something which inspired me, remember the inspirational shot i took of the CK mug in my new bathroom?... Well this time it was my Stanley flask which lit a little match in my brain..

...And ta da! This was purchased...

Birthday girl..!

Hi lovelies, ive got a little problem i thought you may be able to help with...My first born baby daughter Poppy will be 7 years old next saturday-7 YEARS OLD!-where has that time gone?!

Anyway, i need some present ideas for her, im stuck, and so are the family!

I guess the main problem is that she has everything she wants really, and there is nothing she 'needs'.

I know money is a good old failsafe option but i would like her to have something to open!

Answers on a postcard please girls!

Happy April all!

Heeelllllooooooooooo! Hi ya, its me! you remember me down you? Bout 5'6, blonde hair, oversized bottom? Hello, and how have you all been ?

Ive been happily busily making the most of the lovely springy weather, although we have had a spout of rain but that seems to have gone for a couple of days.

Last week was spent at Mr P's parents farm while they went on a jolly to scotland before things get busy. So here's the little man in front of the Aga, his favourite place, no doubt.

Now im home ive finally gotten round to writing this post for you all, just a catch up of whats going on around the place at the moment-another 'episode' as Gem calls them!

A couple more pictures of my shadow(Ted) and murph the gorgeous boy on spring days...

I recently tackled the front borders, and since these photographs were taken even more has sprung to life....coming up ive got tulips, hacinths, lupins, salvias, hostas, a peony and a giant poppy, amongst other things.
This is the view out of the back hedge at the end of the garden....look closely, what can you see?..

Piggies! Yes ive finally taken a couple of photos to show them to you. Its strange to stand at the backdoor with a cuppa in the morning and hear their squeals, sometimes i honestly think its a baby crying, they sound so similar! Every few days they move the pens either forward or back so that they're on new ground and this week they're quite close, so i guess you could say its smelling like a proper farm now! As our land stretches quite far through the village i get lots of comments at the school gates, people generally wondering how things are going, which is really nice. And im pleased to say we're doing even better than hoped, with many more pigs than we needed by this stage of the year.

This is a cake i baked for a friend at work recently, the girls LOVE the sparkly glitter we used on it, bought at the xmas CL fair, its so pretty, you should all go out and buy some, it makes fairy cakes and sponges alike just sparkle!

This is a morning view ive been enjoing for a couple of weeks.....you know how nice it is when you get up before anyone else ? Well ive got six feeders on the tree outside the kitchen window now and i adore watching the blue tits shadows through the blind as they flit about their morning business. Annoyingly my fairy lights around the window have all stopped working this week, well, they were up and switched on non stop for a whole 2.5 years so i cant complain, must get some more though as i miss the delicate light that they cast in the kitchen of an evening when its dark outside....
OOh, i almost forgot, we grew fodder beet last year, a root crop for feeding animals, and we have some lambing ewes on the field at the moment which the girls and i have been checking on, they were a little chilly on this day, but generally they love it!

Today she has a large blue unicorn plaster on her forehead due to falling over on a wooden bridge and hitting her head on a rock, its quite swollen with a hole! Poor baby, she was in my mums care so i blame her! We had some quality time together as school finished on tuesday.

Her sister has gone off to the cinema with her best friend. An afternoon at the local pool for us, she now snorning on the sofa next to me and im getting quite into the episode of Merlin which i put on for her to watch!
She picked me some of these, which have sprung up in my lawn! Grr...

And have you had many of these in your patch? Bumbleees we call them, dopey bumble bees. They seem to be just waking from their slumber and are not quite with it yet!

Im not the only one enjoying the sunshine....
Look at the buds on my apple tree-ooh i cant wait for that beautiful blossom this year. Im going to plant a wildflower patch just behing it, in a half moon around the playhouse, exciting stuff.

I dont think i showed you much of the playhouse last year. Mr P built it for the little ladies and i just love it, its a real feature of my garden, I especially like the heart cut out in the door, This year im going to do lots to it. Pots on the veranda, bunting, comfy furniture and even carpet, so watch this space-and nag me it i dont do it!

Primroses...simple, uplifting...

This was the front border a week or two ago, as i said before , its really coming to life now. Looking at the photos of it from last year i cant wait for it to come into bloom!

Want to know something else getting us all excited here at woodington? Well, its going on in this shed...
This is my lovely lady who decided she was broody, so, eventhough its a little early on in the season, ive let her sit on her eggs and she's been a fantastic mum so far, hardly leaving them. Can you all keep your fingers crossed for us that we have some fluffy little chick a dees in time for easter?!
Oh its been a busy month, gardening, training, and yet another birthday! Bambi was 5, here she is her usual eclectic self, wellies and a ballerina skirt, contemplating picking one of mummies daffs'. She asked me today whether they are wild flowers, then proceeded to tell me that if they are its against the law to pick them. Smart girl, although i dont think they'd throw hew in jail-shes talk them all to sleep!

And last but not least, here's the beautiful Hermione, who is sleeping wherever she sees fit right now, she is very pregnant and the girls and i are so looking forward to having kittens around the house again(shhh, dont tell Mr P-he doesnt know yet)....Our secret?
Anyway, thats basically it from me as the other little madam should be back shortly having fully learnt how to train a dragon should she ever feel the need.

Happy birthday, happy birthday.....

Helllooooo Girls, how are you all? No, seriously, how are you?.....

Firstly i should just say that Im frustrated that i cant figure out how to swap my photos about and put things where i want them on blogger anymore, its my own fault for not uploading the photos first!, never mind im sure you'll be able to match everything up.

January has been a real wobbly month for me, i knew it would be, but ive had wonderful lovely kind friends (real and bloggy) who have offered me a shoulder to cry on, and some pretty flowers to cheer me up!

Mr P has renamed me grumpy. No, i havnt shrunk to dwarf size, its just been a tough month.

Im just about recovering from my root canal treatment this week, i thought i looked after my teeth pretty well, but alas, this was 100% necessary and 100% scary for me. I hate going to the doctors, but the dentist-well thats even worse, as soon as i get the all clear im usually out of that chair but this time it was an hour and a half of what can only be described as hell. That was just one thing bringing me down, The week before that, Ruby had her first major accident, id just started running the bath for her(and i was sat on the side of it) when she decided to step into it, i hadnt even switched the cold tap on, needless to say-it was hot. He left foot was burnt and she is having it redressed every couple of days by the(lovely)nurse at our surgery. It was very blistered, but luckily isnt sore at all. She's never got into the bath without asking before and most of the time i run the cold with the hot, on this occasion i hadnt even had a chance to switch the cold tap on, still wracked with guilt though-bad mummy of the month award goes to me.

Saddest of all this month, my beautiful daughter Poppy's 6th birthday, on the 22nd January, was the first anniversary of loosing my gorgeous friend James, those of you who know me well, know that i dont need to elaborate further on my feelings about my sadness.....its just added to my sombre mood this month.

As you can see, i did indeed make her a cake in the end, 2 in fact, but to be frank, my heart wasnt in it, i dont think she or anyone of my family noticed and enjoyed the cake anyway.

I was hoping this year would be a really postive one, but to be honest January has done nothing but drag me down, and thank god that on monday we can float into February.

Speaking of February, the 1st to be exact, i do believe thats my very 1st blog birthday!

How shall we celebrate then? A giveaway?, oh ok then!!! Ive collected a few lovely bits and pieces together to celebrate this momentus occasion and id love to share some fab goodies with one of you.

Id really like it if you would be so kind as to leave a comment giving me an idea of a simple meal idea i could try out for the family. I know a few people have requested this recently too, but dont worry, if you cant be bothered to write out a whole recipe, beans on toast will do as a suggestion!Id like to just say thanks to all of you, i now have 101 followers-101!! While thats lovely, and a compliment that a few people out there enjoy tuning into my twitterings, you've all been so sweet and kind and inspirational, and really hope this journey continues with you all, thanks a million! (and i apologise that my posts are fewer and further between than id like at present, just life getting in the way as usual)

Just an update for those of you who are interested, the pig farm is going from strength to strength at the moment, i drove the big digger over the fields today down to the main pig area and as i passed them all they all ran over for a nosey, i think they thought they were going to be fed-no such luck! Some of the sows have farrowed now so as soon as is humanly possible i'll take some good photos of the piglets for you all to ooh and ahh over-just bear with me.

One thing which has put a smile on my face this week is the fact that each room of the house is adorned with the stunning tulips you see photographed. I popped in to the local texaco garage one evening and they had 3 bunches down to 75p each...next evening, 7 bunches, at 2.25 each, s i asked the young chap with the scanner reduction gun thingy if they were due to be reduced further that evening? Of course-er 75p a bunch okay, he said ?! Er YES!

I grabbed the lot(greedy i know!) The guy at the till said id saved twenty two pounds in reductions on those flowers!!! I love love love tulips the're just so pretty!!

I'll leave you now as id really like a glass of rose(ay) and a catch up with Mr P when he gets in shortly, thats if i dont fall asleep first-im pooped!

Birthday girl..

Ok, so, any ideas how my baby girl turned from this....

My baby girl was four on wednesday, those four years have passed so fast, we've been celebrating all week....

What could possibly be under this new crochet blankie?...

Presents of course!!! She opened them all on mummy and daddys bed as soon as she woke up, she was sooo excited!

Ruby had eight friends over for her birthday tea party after pre school so we put up lots of bunting and baked birthday cupcakes...

Yet more presents from nana...

Do you like the new boot sale plastic plates?...

Then today we had a family birthday party with homemade chilli, jacket potatoes, salad, coleslaw, garlic bread then jelly and ice cream, lemon cake and a victoria sponge for afters!(And yet more presents!). Some grown up drinks were also enjoyed very much....


And of course a fairy princess birthday cake!

Another lovely afternoon was had by all.

Roo wasnt the only person celebrating her birthday this week, we'd like to welcome the girls' new baby sisiter Freya Rose into the world too, HUGE congratulations to her mummy and daddy...

Happy Birthday to my Ruby, im so proud to be your mummy.
