Well, this evening i thought id make us a nice warming, healing stew and mash, i selected an egg to add to the mash to make it nice and creamy(it was a large one but i thought nothing of it)i cracked it into a bowl so as not to get any white into my mash potatoes and to my amazement two yolks plopped out! Ive googled what this means, and apparently 'a double yolk is viewed with concern as it foretold of a hurried wedding due to a pregnancy', or twins! SSSH, dont tell Mr P!! Lol...Happy Valentines day x

I've never had a double yolked egg and would love to as I don't like egg white but love egg yolk... Can I ask about the mash thing... I've never heard of putting an egg yolk in - is it nice??

I've only had this happen to me once.In the paper the other day a lady had a box of 6 eggs and every one she cracked open was a double yoke!!

Hi there, the jug you liked is one by Gabriella Miller that I bought on holiday in Somerset a couple of years ago. If you try her website maybe they still make it. I'm a terrible jugaholic too. I've got my eye on a red spotty one from Laura Ashley at the moment that I'm trying to resist...but it is very, very difficult!

I grew up on a farm and the chickens would regularly lay 'double yolkers'. I didn't know that old wife's tale though! I haven't ever put an egg in my mashed potato, just lots of hot milk and butter! x
A double yolker! Lucky girl!
